Welcome to Hold. We take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our gambling blocker app.

1. Our Privacy-First Approach

Hold is designed with privacy at its core. All blocking happens entirely on your device. We do not operate external servers that process your browsing data or track which sites you visit.

  • All requests are processed locally on your device
  • Blocked attempt logs are stored only on your device
  • No browsing history is transmitted to us or third parties
  • Your gambling-related data never leaves your iPhone

2. Data We Collect

We collect minimal data necessary to provide our service:

  • Account Information: If you subscribe, payment processing is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We receive only a subscription status confirmation.
  • App Usage Data: Basic app analytics (app opens, feature usage) may be collected anonymously to improve the app. This data cannot identify you.
  • Device Information: Basic device type and iOS version for compatibility purposes.

3. Data Stored On Your Device

The following data is stored locally on your device and is never transmitted to us:

  • Blocked gambling attempt records (domain, timestamp)
  • Money saved entries you log
  • Your onboarding questionnaire responses
  • App preferences and settings
  • VPN tunnel diagnostic logs

This data remains on your device and can be deleted at any time through the app's settings.

4. Subscription and Payment Data

All payments are processed through Apple's App Store. We do not collect, store, or have access to your payment information such as credit card numbers or billing addresses. Apple handles all subscription management and billing.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties.

The only third-party service we use is RevenueCat for subscription management, which receives only anonymous subscription status information from Apple.

6. How the VPN Works

Hold uses a local VPN configuration to block gambling sites on your device. Important points:

  • The VPN processes traffic locally — no external VPN server is involved
  • Only site requests are inspected, not your actual browsing content
  • We cannot see what you do on allowed websites
  • The blocklist of gambling apps and websites is stored on your device

7. Data Security

We implement appropriate security measures to protect your data:

  • On-device data is stored in iOS secure containers
  • App Group data is sandboxed and encrypted by iOS
  • No sensitive data is transmitted over the network

8. Children's Privacy

Hold is not intended for use by children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

9. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access your data: View all locally stored data within the app
  • Delete your data: Use the "Reset All Data" option in Settings to delete all local data
  • Cancel subscription: Manage your subscription through iOS Settings → Subscriptions
  • Opt out: Disable the VPN at any time to stop blocking

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes by posting the new policy in the app or on our website with an updated "Last updated" date.
