1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Hold, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the app.

2. Description of Service

Hold is a gambling site blocking application that uses a local VPN configuration to block access to known gambling websites. The app is designed to help users who want to reduce or eliminate their gambling activity.

Key features include:

  • Network-level blocking of gambling apps and websites
  • On-device processing for privacy
  • Blocked attempt tracking
  • Money saved logging

3. Subscription and Payments

Hold offers a 7-day free trial. After the trial period, a paid subscription is required to continue using the blocking features.

  • Subscriptions are billed through the Apple App Store
  • Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period
  • You can manage and cancel your subscription in your iOS Settings → Subscriptions
  • Refunds are handled according to Apple's refund policies

4. No Guarantee of Effectiveness

While Hold blocks access to a comprehensive list of gambling sites, we cannot guarantee that it will block all gambling content or prevent all gambling activity. New gambling sites may not be immediately added to our blocklist, and some sites may use techniques to avoid detection.

Hold is a tool to support your decision to quit gambling, but it is not a substitute for professional help. If you have a gambling addiction, we encourage you to seek support from qualified professionals or organizations.

5. User Responsibilities

As a user of Hold, you agree to:

  • Use the app only for its intended purpose of blocking gambling content
  • Not attempt to circumvent, disable, or interfere with the blocking functionality
  • Not reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the app
  • Keep your device's operating system updated for optimal security
  • Take responsibility for your own recovery and seek professional help if needed

6. VPN and Network Configuration

Hold requires permission to create a VPN configuration on your device. By using Hold, you consent to this configuration. Please note:

  • The VPN is used solely for blocking gambling sites, not for routing your internet traffic through external servers
  • The VPN may affect battery life slightly
  • Some networks or organizations may restrict VPN usage
  • You can disable the VPN at any time through the app or iOS Settings

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

Hold is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that:

  • The app will be uninterrupted or error-free
  • All gambling sites will be blocked
  • The app will meet your specific requirements
  • The blocklist will always be up-to-date

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Hold and its developers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to:

  • Financial losses from gambling activity
  • Emotional distress or psychological harm
  • Loss of data or privacy breaches
  • Any damages arising from your use or inability to use the app
